Marquis Who’s Who Honors James W. Greig II for Expertise in Higher Education and Psychology

Dr. Greig has enjoyed a distinguished career marked by significant contributions to the military and educational fields. Since retiring from his field, he has remained active as a part-time adjunct instructor at Grand Canyon University, a private Christian university in Phoenix, since 2010. His educational and developmental psychology expertise has been instrumental in shaping his approach to teaching and mentoring students.
Following a long and distinguished tenure in the military, Dr. Greig garnered several noteworthy civil service roles, beginning as an education services counselor and education officer at several Air Force installations and then as the education program administrator for the Defense Contract Audit Agency from 2009 to 2016. He also found success as the chief learning officer for Air Mobility Command between 2016 and 2017, adjunct faculty at Rowan College of Burlington County from 2017 to 2018, and community support coordinator for the U.S. Air Force at RAF Lakenheath, UK.
Dr. Greig served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1975 to 1998, where he held various positions of increasing responsibility, including as the chief of the training division, staff director of exercise plans, and director of the analysis division. Following his military service, he continued to garner success as an instructor at the Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps in Saint Louis Public Schools, was a staff manager of operations plans, and among other roles, was the deputy of education services for the 52 MSS, the education services officer for the 469 Air Base Group, and provost of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe University and command education program manager.
Highly educated, Dr. Greig received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Cornell University in 1974, a Master of Arts in counseling from Ball State University in 1980, a Master of Arts in philosophy from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1985, and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational psychology with a focus on developmental psychology from Capella University in 2008. While an undergraduate, he served as the President of Alpha Phi Omega national service fraternity’s Cornell chapter and Venerable Dean of the Cornell chapter of Acacia fraternity.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Greig is actively involved in several professional organizations. He is a member of American Mensa, the Triple-Nine Society, and the International Society for Philosophical Enquiry, the Military Officers Association of America, the Society of Psychologists in Management, the National Eagle Scout Association, and the American Psychological Association, among others. Dr. Greig also served as the vice president of the Council on Occupational Education’s Federal Agency Community of Practice.
Dr. Greig’s commitment to civic engagement has been evident through various initiatives. Most notably, an Eagle Scout himself, he was the assistant district commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America in the Transatlantic Council, in Niceville, Florida, and in O’Fallon, Illinois from 1994 to 2003. He was also a member of the district training team, and a staff member for the Cub Scout Trainer’s WoodBage course.
In light of his civic contributions and work for the Air Force and Defense Contract Audit Agency, Dr. Greig earned two civilian service awards during his period of civil service. He attributes his success to his relentless pursuit of excellence, constantly seeking to elevate the quality of his work.
